BGInfo

If you are looking for BGInfo, you have come to the right place. We explain what BGInfo is and point you to the official download.

What is BGInfo?

BGInfo is a program that is part of the Sysinternals suite from Microsoft. The program generates a report of system information and displays this on the user’s desktop. The information is generated in real-time, which means that the user is kept up-to-date on current information regarding their system.

The information automatically appears on the user’s desktop upon log-in, if the user adds it to their Startup folder. It may also be configured to show up as background for the log-on window. It is generally used by network administrators managing several end-user machines simultaneously. Advanced users are also able to save the information as data file or store it in an SQL database. For network administrators, these options give them a central storage location for all information regarding systems that they are managing.

The user has the option to choose which types of information they want the program to generate a report of. Fields that can be added are displayed on the left panel of the program’s window. These include the following: Boot Time, CPU, Default Gateway, DHCP Server, DNS Server, Free Space, Host Name, IE Version, IP Address, Logon Domain, Logon Server, Memory, Network Card, Speed and Type; and OS Version.
