The Audible Download Manager is a special and exclusive application created by Audible in order to download their audiobooks and other audio files available in the Audible catalog, which includes such digital audiobooks, radio and TV programs, and even audio versions of print publications like magazines and newspapers. The Audible Download Manager works only with Audible files and is an integral component of the Audible client, which is used to browse for and purchase the aforementioned content.
Audible.com is an online service of spoken audio content, which can be anything from entertainment to information and educational; some of these content are free, but others are sold with DRM (digital rights management) protection for copyright management. A subsidiary of Amazon since 2008, when Amazon bought the service for $300 million, Audible has a near-monopoly on the digital distribution of audiobooks market.
Currently, Audible boasts over 100,000 titles in its catalog, provided for by about 1,200 unique providers; this translates to in excess of a million hours of audio programming. Content can be any book with an audio format, plus such publications as The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, both of which have audio versions available.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Audible Download Manager can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
