What is Actuate Reporting System?

Actuate Reporting System (ARS) is a BIRT (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools) program developed by privately-owned company, Actuate Software Corp. The software is generally categorized as an enterprise reporting program, providing Information Systems managers and other users with tools for generating and maintaining operational reports as well as client (end-users)reports.

The reports are generated in a data structure format, allowing the user to navigate through the report, as well as search and query the same within the integrated viewing platform. The software contains several modules, which can be broken down into five core components: Designer, Compiler, Report Factory, Viewer, and C Library.

The Designer is the component that allows the user to create the reports through programming tools that it provides; while the Compiler is a program for gathering all of the reports. It creates a corresponding executable file, which is the file that can be queried when the user is generating a report (through Report Factory).

The Viewer can be purchased as a standalone product. It is a utility for viewing the generated reports.
