Surfer

If you are looking for Surfer, you have come to the right place. We explain what Surfer is and point you to the official download.

What is Surfer?

Surfer is Golden Software’s 3D mapping solution, often used by professionals in the geological, engineering and hydrological fields for contour-creation and visualization tasks. The program’s advanced mapping functions allow users precise and comprehensive control over details and parameters in their maps. Users can import maps in all the major formats and export them as well in formats such as GeoTIFF, SHP and PNG. Post mapping allows for ultra-accurate grids and specialized map tools like Watershed Maps allow users to immediately calculate data relevant to their work, such as drainage basins. Wireframe and vector mapping tools are also provided with the software.

The maps can be stacked and layered in the software for multidimensional data visualizations. An instant profile view option makes it easier to see transformations and varying values from another perspective. An extensive array of map customization tools is also packed into the software. The program has 12 gridding methods for producing accurate, publish-worthy maps from XYZ data, and it also has grid node editing as well as variogram modeling capabilities. It also incorporates a spreadsheet application.

Golden Software’s Surfer is only for Windows operating systems.
