What are CMF files and how to open them

What is a CMF file?

CMF files have multiple uses, and Cal3D Mesh is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Cal3D Mesh File

These CMF files contain the 3D mesh files created in Cal3D, a program used to create 3D animations. These mesh files are the structure of characters animated in Cal3D. The animations' information is stored using polygons that exist out of edges and nodes within the file.

How to open CMF files

Important: Different programs may use files with the CMF file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CMF file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

Creative Music Format

These CMF files contain MIDI-like audio and custom instruments audio used in Sound Blaster sound cards, the hardware used to play audio. The instrument data used to create the CMF file is stored in the file itself, meaning that a wider range of instruments can be used.

Sangduck Map

We know that one CMF format is Sangduck Map. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
