What are BGA files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a BGA file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your BGA files.

What is a BGA file?

BGA files have multiple uses, and Binary GPU Attribute is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Binary GPU Attribute

These BGA file-formats describe the mesh in a binary form that gets used on GPUs, Graphics Processing Unit. This is used for rendering on the GPU with minimal processing or parsing.

How to open BGA files

Important: Different programs may use files with the BGA file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your BGA file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested three different BGA openers which you will find listed below.

All known file formats using extension .BGA

While Binary GPU Attribute is a popular type of BGA-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .BGA file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

OS/2 Bitmap Graphics Array

We know that one BGA format is OS/2 Bitmap Graphics Array. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
