Windows Codec Pack

What is Windows Codec Pack?

The Windows Codec Pack is a multimedia codec application that can download and playback videos, audio clips, music and photo files from the Internet or copied from their original disc sources like DVD, CD or Bluray. It enables users to create multimedia files quickly and easily with easy installation and automatic function settings configuration.

It is created by Windows 7 Codec Pack and works with Windows OS with Microsoft Windows Media Player, as well as any media player that supports the DirectShow format, the Windows multimedia authoring utility. It has a file size of 19.6MB and is available for free download.

A codec is software used for encoding and decoding multimedia file formats like videos, audio clips, music and photos. This means that they can be copied from their original file sources like online streams and uploads or from a hardware device, or simply compressed. They can be stored and play backed in another device like a computer, media player or mobile phones and gadgets.

The Windows Codec Pack supports compression for a host of video file formats like AVC, XviD, MP3, MPEG2 and MPEG 4, among others. Meantime, music, photo and video files that can be played on it include .evo, .avi, .flv, .mkv, .ogg, .3gp, .ts, .webm, . bdmv and. ofr, among others.

Multimedia files created from the Windows Codec Pack also supports various resolution requirements to assure a long list of device compatibility, including SD or standard definition for 480i up to 576p requirements and HD or high definition from 7201 to more than 1080p requirements. It can also protect Blueray DVD copies by using a third application, the Slysoft AnyDVD HD, also created by Windows 7 Codec Pack.
