Virtual Villagers - The Tree of Life

What is Virtual Villagers - The Tree of Life?

Virtual Villagers is a city simulation (specifically village simulation game), developed by Last Day of Work, an independent game development outfit and published by several casual games companies, like Wild Tangent. It has spawned four sequels to date, and has garnered positive critical reception and awards, including a Zeeby award for Best Sim Game of 2006, Best Sim Game of 2006 by Game Tunnel, a Highly Commended citation from the 2006 GameShadow awards in the Best Casual Games category, and finally the ATI Crossfire People’s Choice Award.

The objective of Virtual Villagers 4 (also known as Virtual Villagers 4 – the Tree of Life) is to guide a group of people to find and discover the secrets of an island called Isola, where they have been cast away after their nearby island home was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. This is the central plotline of the game that has persisted through all four sequels (until Virtual Villagers 5). The villagers ultimately colonize one of the main points of the compass and develop their civilization. In the 3rd outing, the villagers of Isola inevitably run across the Tree of Life, which they maintain alongside the development of their tribe.
