What is View?
View is a free software program that allows users to view AutoCAD designs in DWG and DGN formats. The software is from Bentley Systems, Incorporated; a company that develops CAD/CAM software. Although the software was developed primarily to open DWG and DGN AutoCAD designs, the program is also capable of opening DXF files and raster graphics. The program is also capable of opening CAD 2D and 3D designs created through Bentley’s CAD software, MicroStation, because the program is integrated with the MicroStation’s view and review components.
What the program does is to automatically open these files to allow the user to immediately view the designs, without the need for translation. For older AutoCAD software programs, such as AutoCAD R11, View can likewise open models and designs created with this older version of AutoCAD.
If you wish to see 2D and 3D views of a model, you can open the file in both 2D and 3D dimensions within the same window. This means that you do not have to open one window for the 2D rendition and another for the 3D rendition. You can also print to Adobe PDF and print to scale through the software.
