If you are looking for StarOffice Math, you have come to the right place. We explain what StarOffice Math is and point you to the official download.
What is StarOffice Math?
StarOffice Math was one of the components of a former proprietary office suite called StarOffice which was also released briefly as Oracle Open Office. The entire suite was discontinued in the year 2011. This suite was originally designed by Star Division, a company which was acquired by another software company called Sun Microsystems. The evolution of proprietorship continued when in 2010, Sun Microsystems was acquired by another software company – Oracle Corporation.
StarOffice Math, alongside all other components of the StarOffice suite, also had its versions in Asian languages including Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. It was primarily used as a formula generator and had executable files .smf, .odf, and.sxm. This component also supported the file format OpenOffice.org XM and the standard format of OpenDocument. Using this platform also lets users generate documents and projects in Flash of PDF formats. It also had a macro recorder, Software Development Kit (SDK), and embedded templates that are ready to be used.
StarOffice Math and all other applications of the suite were discontinued after an announcement made by Oracle that OpenOffice.org would only be supported as a community-based project and no longer for commercial purpose.
