What is Spex?
Spex is an educational computer program developed by Aspex Software, a software developing company based in the United Kingdom. More specifically, the software is a 3D design program developed for children. The software aims to introduce children to 3D designs modeling, while also providing them with tools for performing mathematical calculations for their graphical modeling.
The software provides tools that will enable kids to come up with a design budget using spreadsheets and pie charts integrated into the program. Kids can design rooms (classrooms, bedrooms, or other rooms in the house), streets, gardens, playgrounds, and swimming pools. There is also an application that allows children to design an Egyptian tomb.
Also provided is an application that allows the kids to go on a shopping trip to the grocery, teaching them about computing for food costs. Virtual money is provided to allow the kids to pay for their grocery items.
Spex is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. The software is available for purchase. A trial version may be downloaded, and be used for an unlimited number of days. Each software usage however is limited to ten minutes at a time.
