SketchBook Copic Edition

What is SketchBook Copic Edition?

Autodesk’s SketchBook Copic Edition is the company’s limited edition tribute to Copic markers, which provided the brush default styles and colors for this edition of Autodesk’s digital illustration software. The program is lightweight and downloadable for free. It is compatible with computers running either a Windows OS or Mac OS X.

The drawing/painting software includes all the basic features of the developer’s SketchBook (for which there is a fee if you download the Pro version). Color palettes, brush selectors, brush settings, and the like may be found in the program. Because this is the Copic edition, all hues in the color palette are reproductions of Copic marker colors. Of the hundreds of colors available for Copic markers, the developers of the program have handpicked 72 representatives/essential selections to fill the color palette for their software. Users who want more of the Copic marker colors shall have to buy the professional version of the program in order to obtain them.

The program’s drawing engine simulates marker wetness and effects on paper for a realistic look. Users can tweak their brushes’ settings, of course, but the default brush properties are intended to achieve a “real marker on paper” appearance.
