What is Safer Browser?
The Safer Browser comes from Safer Technologies and is touted by its developers as a more secure alternative to standard browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. The browser is very similar to the basic Chrome browser in appearance, but claims some features that render using it a more secure browsing experience. For example, the Safer Browser has an automated function that converts http sites into https ones, adding a layer of encryption to the user’s browsing.
The program is also built to integrate with WOT Services Ltd’s Web of Trust tool. This is an online utility can be installed on browsers as an add-on so that they can access website ratings from around the Internet in just a few clicks. Users are thus able to see the security ratings for websites before they even visit them, allowing them further control over the browsing experience. When using Safer with the tool equipped, website URLs get the Web of Trust “traffic light” signaling system beside them, indicating to users, which sites are deemed safe, possibly unsafe, and largely unsafe.
The program is also equipped with Parental Control options for users with children.
