If you are looking for RipDVD, you have come to the right place. We explain what RipDVD is and point you to the official download.

What is RipDVD?

RipDVD (now renamed as RypDVD) is a DVD conversion software that uses a command line interface (CLI) instead of a graphic user interface (GUI). To put this in perspective, a command line interface is similar to the command prompt in Windows, where you type and enter commands to make a computer or a system execute a task. This is most unlike a system running a GUI, which is easier to most users (especially novice to intermediate ones), since a GUI features easy to read buttons and menus. A command line interface does not have this and at most features multi-colored text and typefaces, but still requires typed input from the user before it can execute a command.

RypDVD is an advanced DVD conversion tool that, while its GUI is still being developed, uses CLI to convert and rip DVDs to a digital format on your computer, which can then be further converted into other formats, like AVI, MPEG, and so on. While its other contemporaries (notably the Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player) can do this on their own – with a fully featured GUI to boot – RypDVD is extremely small and has no virtual memory footprint except for when it’s converting and ripping DVDs.
