Pro ENGINEER

What is Pro ENGINEER?

Pro ENGINEERING is a platform with integrated CAD, CAE, and CAM solutions. It is now referred to as Creo Parametric and the name was changed on October 28, 2010. This software is designed and published by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC).The software includes features that allows drafting, assembly modeling, solid modeling, and element analysis.

Mechanical engineers use this software particularly for its tooling and NC functionality which are essential tools for designing and manufacturing. The parametric capability of the Creo Parametric (formerly known as Pro ENGINEERING) makes use of dimensions and parameters so as to capture the desired behavior of the product being engineered. It is also a crucial facet of designing with optimization.

Pro ENGINEERING was also originally equipped with capabilities such as Simulation, Interactive Routing, and Solid Modeling. The features have been consolidated with the newest versions of Creo Parametric with the now integrated capabilities such as Data Interoperability, Tolerance Analysis, Surfacing, and Tooling Designs.

The program can also be utilized in preparing engineering and construction-related documents such as Specifications, Bill of Materials, and plans to streamline the project management process. The first Pro ENGINEER version was released in 1987 and also put out several versions before the change name 2010.
