If you are looking for ooVoo, you have come to the right place. We explain what ooVoo is and point you to the official download.

What is ooVoo?

Oovoo (stylized as ooVoo) is an instant messaging platform, developed by ooVoo LLC, whose main competitors are Skype and Apple Facetime as they’re mostly having the same features. First rolled out in June 2007, ooVoo has since been released for a number of operating systems; it now supports Windows, Mac OS X, Android, and iOS. Initially only video chat was available in the first release, but additional features and a paid edition were all introduced in later updates to the software, and now boasts a user base of about 35 million unique users as of October 2011.

The main features of ooVoo are the 12-way group calling, which is essentially a web conference, plus the ability to record calls, video or voice, anytime and anywhere. Because ooVoo is also compatible with several devices, the HD video chat offered by the service is cross-platform, meaning a user may be using a PC to talk with one using an iPhone, or with the group using different devices supported by ooVoo. Most of the software’s attractive features are free, such as free video calling and voice chat, desktop sharing, and the like, but some require a fee, like calling to landlines or mobile phones.
