What is OOo4Kids Calc?
OOo4Kids Calc is an application that is part of the software OOo4Kids, an open source program that provides children with office applications based on the OpenOffice suite. OOo4Kids is intended for kids aged 7 to 12. This kids’ version of office suite includes four applications: OOo4Kids Writer, OOo4Kids Draw, OOo4Kids Impress and OOo4Kids Calc.
OOo4Kids Calc is the spreadsheet application of the office suite. The spreadsheet app features statistical functions, basic mathematical tools, graphs, and text inputting. Kids can also create their own formulas for their data calculations, and also insert rows and columns and new spreadsheet into a project. The application is compatible with MS Office Excel, allowing the kids to import Excel data onto their Calc window.
The Writer application is the program’s word processor while the Impress application is the presentation app that functions like MS PowerPoint. The Draw app of the program allows children to create their own drawings and sketches. It features drawing tools, objects, and pre-defined layouts.
The software is available in 5 languages: German, Spanish, French, Italian and English. It is compatible with Windows systems, Mac OS X and Unix/Linux.
