.NET Framework

If you are looking for .NET Framework, you have come to the right place. We explain what .NET Framework is and point you to the official download.

What is .NET Framework?

The Microsoft .NET Framework (dot-net) is an essential platform technology used to provide the tools for developers to create web and network applications and distributed web services; for the average consumers, the Microsoft .NET Framework is mostly used as a requirement for certain applications or programs, especially that use the Internet or other networking technologies (as with those that need constant synchronization over a network). When a compatible version of .NET Framework is not found installed on a user’s computer, the installation would prompt the user to install it first, otherwise the program cannot run.

In jargon talk simplified, the .NET Framework is a collection of compile- and run-time libraries to create, run, and manage programs that use a language conforming to the CLS (Common Language Specification). The .NET Framework is essentially composed of the Common Language Runtime and the .NET Framework Class Library; the first is the an application virtual machine of the platform that runs all code in a sort of a software environment. The second is the library, a huge collection of language-independent code. Typically, programs for the Windows platform is combined with the .NET Framework plus the software’s source code, which can then be interpreted as a Windows-usable application.

Search for .NET Framework on Bing (external link)

Heads up: The link above performs a search for the product installer on the Bing search engine. We do not necessarily endorse the content of the sites shown in their search results. Use common sense before downloading software from the internet.

About file types supported by .NET Framework

File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.

If you have additional information about which types of files .NET Framework can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
