If you are looking for Mumble, you have come to the right place. We explain what Mumble is and point you to the official download.

What is Mumble?

Mumble is an application developed by Thorvald Natvig that provides users with a platform for making voice communications over the Internet. It functions as a Voice over IP program that allows users to voice-chat with friends using Internet protocols.

The application works by connecting the user/s to a Mumble server, which is known as Murmur, and enabling those connected to the same channel to voice-chat with one another. The application is generally utilized by gamers, where they can talk to other gamers while engaged in their online interactive games.

Mumble uses a noise reduction technology so that the users will have better audio quality when voice-chatting on the Internet. Where the application is utilized for games, an overlay is provided where the user can create their own avatar and see other users who are on the same channel as they are.

The latest version, Mumble 1.2.3 allows for priority speaker; which means the user can assign a certain friend that they are chatting with to be a priority speaker. When the priority speaker talks, all other users connected to the same channel will be put in the background, or will be attenuated.

Mumble is a cross-platform application that is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, iOS and Linux.
