If you are looking for K-Meleon, you have come to the right place. We explain what K-Meleon is and point you to the official download.
What is K-Meleon?
K-Meleon en-US is a lightweight web browser that is distributed for free under the GNU GPL. It owes its low system resource usage to the fact that it relies on the Windows API—this is also what leads to it having a GUI that many users will find very similar to the Windows default program appearance. However, this same feature is one that may cause compatibility issues, specifically with themes that rely on XML user-interface layer technology. This means that themes that are based on Mozilla may not run on the browser, even if both Mozilla Firefox and K-Meleon use Mozilla’s Gecko layout. Furthermore, plugins for Firefox will not work on K-Meleon, which has its own set of them.
K-Meleon supports a lot of the same features found in Firefox (as well as other web browsers), though: users can browse by tabs, can bookmark favorite pages or sites, can customize the UI and toolbars, can prevent popup windows from showing, and can install a plugin that enables mouse gesture control of the browser. There are themes and skins for the program available for free on the Web too.
