What is Jing?

Jing is a free application that enhances your online conversations by instantly creating and sharing videos and images from your computer such as taking screenshots [computer screen images], recording a maximum of 5-minute screencasts [onscreen videos] and collaboration with software siblings such as Camtasia and Snagit that are used for enhanced sharing and editing functions.

You can capture a pane, window or region in one click, and add your screenshot or image to your blog or through E-mail, IM and more. You can also share them to Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and Screencast.com. You can explain a concept or focus your point by marking your screenshot with highlights, arrow, text box or caption for your picture. Jing enables hyperlink on your clipboard when you send screenshots to Flickr, Screencast.com or other supported destinations. You don’t need to wait to be able to share your work. Just past the link to your screenshot on your forum post, IM or E-mail.

You can share videos or screencasts in SWF format. You can record any region or window, and capture everything that happens within that area you have selected. You can share your Jing screencasts to Facebook, Twitter and Screencast.com. You can use your computer microphone for Jing to record your audio comments and movements. Jing can readily share and upload your recording or screencast video through E-mail, IM or the Web. You can configure Jing with HTML embedded code to insert video or image directly to your Website, wiki or blog among others.
