If you are looking for Haali Muxer, you have come to the right place. We explain what Haali Muxer is and point you to the official download.

What is Haali Muxer?

The Haali Muxer is a tool for muxing or re-muxing an audio or video component into an open-standard Matroska (.mkv) container. The Haali Muxer is included in the K-Lite Codec Pack, the definitive and ultimate collection of free, open codecs and other related media-rendering tools; it is, however, part of the Haali initiative of video tools that are meant for various uses. The most famous of the Haali products is the Haali Media Splitter, which is used to split media files (audio and video primarily) into several chunks for various purposes. Other Haali tools are included in the K-Lite Codec Pack as well, including the Media Splitter; all Haali applications are free and open-source.

The “muxer” is a contracted form of the word “multiplexer”, which is essentially a device, unit, or software that crams two or more analog or digital signals into one shared line; this is done mostly for the purposes of conserving space or sharing an otherwise expensive resource. For example, a multiplexed phone line may be able to accommodate multiple phone calls all at once. In video processing, a muxer is used to put video, audio, and other metadata and subtitles into one container format, in this case the Matroska container format.
