If you are looking for Filzip, you have come to the right place. We explain what Filzip is and point you to the official download.

What is Filzip?

Filzip is a freeware compression/decompression manager application used to archive/extract files written by Philipp Engel, and runs exclusively in Microsoft Windows platform. Filzip has been restricted to more than 20 languages and fully supports seven different archive formats including BH, JAR, CAB, TAR, LHA, GZIP, and ZIP. Some other formats such as ZOO, ARJ, ACE, ARC, and RAR are supported solely for extraction.

Filzip can generate self-extracting executable archives for redistribution without licensing costs. Files can be seen without explicitly decompressing them, and can be removed or renamed within the archive. Filzip integrates with search engines and with Windows file managers, and incorporates email clients. Filzip is indeed easy to use and navigate with a simple and instinctive interface. It supports file processing in mass mode, and allows the user to produce auto-extractable files. Moreover, Filzip supports widely used compression formats nowadays.

Although Filzip is free software, its author Philipp Engel requested donations to aid the cost of the software’s development. However, no improvement has been taken place since 2007, causing the development of Filzip to be terminated.
