File Type Assistant is a small, unobtrusive application by Trusted Software that streamlines the regular Windows prompt when opening a file without an applicable program to open it with. For example, when you open a PSD file (for Adobe Photoshop) and you don’t have an appropriate program to open or view it with, the File Type Assistant will take over the normal Windows prompt and give you two choices. The default would be to find the appropriate software to view or to play the file with by browsing file.org's library of safe and tested programs, or to let Windows go about the issue as it normally does (by trying to find the software on the web or from available Windows updates).
The installation file, tsasetup.exe, is only about 1 MB in size, and even installed it takes very little storage and registry footprint on your PC.
Our users primarily use File Type Assistant to open these file types:
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files File Type Assistant can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
