What is FATE?
Fate is one of Wild Tangent’s games that appeal to a more hardcore, role-playing audience, originally released in 2005 and developed and published in-house by Wild Studios and Wild Tangent, respectively. Fate is an action role-playing game (ARPG) similar to the definitive standard of ARPGs, the Diablo series (specifically Diablo II), incorporating major thematic inspiration from dungeon crawlers in which the player character explores dungeons, caves and other similar locales to find various items and treasures (known in RPG terminology as "loot") and money. The original Fate game has received three expansions in the succeeding years, which developed the plot and the game further by adding more quests and items.
Fate has gained a cult following after its release, and the positive critical reception from professionals helped cement is as one of the best Diablo II "clones" that proliferated after the latter’s success. Fate differed from the others as the design was geared to be enjoyed from the outset, and its quirky and fun art and game design attested to this. Although there was minimal amount of plot and the game is decidedly linear, it has attracted a community of modders that augmented the game’s capabilities and added new things like new weapons or armor.
