Facebook Messenger

If you are looking for Facebook Messenger, you have come to the right place. We explain what Facebook Messenger is and point you to the official download.

What is Facebook Messenger?

The Facebook Messenger is an app for Windows 7 (and a mobile version, for iOS and Android devices) that lets you chat and keep in touch with your Facebook friends regardless if you’re currently logged into Facebook or not on your web browser. The Messenger application is not available for other operating systems as of this writing, and though Facebook aims to roll out a compatible version for Windows Vista, this could take a while; Windows XP is not supported and there are no plans to support it in the future.

The Facebook Messenger, for Windows and mobile, feature the ability to talk to your friends without even signing in on Facebook’s web interface, and also offers you the option to see the latest updates from your friends via the supplied ticker, and quick notifications. The Facebook Messenger for Windows requires a one-time setup and will automatically install updates if needed (there is currently no option to set updates to manual).

There are, however, still limitations on the app, namely the multiple chat option and the video chat, all of which are available on Facebook’s web interface itself. These features are currently being worked on for Messenger and will be available in future updates.
