DAP Shred, or the DAP File Shredder, is a component of the Download Accelerator Plus that lets you 'shred' or securely delete a file from your computer, which is not retrievable by any means. This is because delete can be mined from your disk, while a shredded file could not.
Download Accelerator Plus, or more commonly known or referred to as DAP, is a download manager for both Windows and Mac OS X platforms. True to its name, the Download Accelerator Plus is a desktop application that takes over the default download manager that comes with your browser and accelerates any of your downloads using a multipart segmented download mechanic. In this system, a multipart download manager breaks up a file into several 'segments' or chunks, not unlike what torrent clients do, and downloads each segment of the file simultaneously. Taken piecemeal, each segment downloads less than the normal of what you can actually do at peak speed, but when all download speeds are totaled you can expect download speeds up to 20% (or more) faster than your standard browser downloading tool. This multiple connections on the same file allows for a better data transfer performance, and the Download Accelerator Plus is also able to seek faster mirrors for the same file, or even download the same file simultaneously from different sites.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files DAPShred Application can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
