Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is a program installed on end-user computers to allow them to securely connect to any enterprise network via a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection.
The software can be installed on smartphones, tablets and laptops; which allows clients to have VPN access while they are on the go. This being said, the primary function of the program is to provide mobile VPN access to network resources.
Secure Socket Layers (SSL), Transport Layer Security (TLS), Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) and IPsec Internet Key Exchange (IKEv2) are protocols that the program utilizes to enable the end-user to securely connect to the network.
Apart for the security protocols, the program is also integrated with various applications to further provide security to network resources. These additional components include Cisco Network Access Manager, an application that allows network administrators to pre-select networks for client connection, as well as specify which network resources will be made available to them.
The program also the capability to scan end-user machines that are requesting to be connected to the network, to check if the clients are following company protocols, before they are allowed to access the network.
