Bing Bar, previously known as MSN Toolbar, is part of the Windows Live Essentials Suite Wave 4, first introduced on 2010; it used to support Mozilla Firefox but this was scrapped and further support for other browsers other than Internet Explorer was pulled out for unspecified reasons.
The Bing Bar is what results should Windows Live and the Bing search engine (which was Microsoft’s response to the Google dominated online search landscape) have a child. This features a search functionality that is every bit as powerful as the Bing search engine, but also a solid set of components and conveniences that are as useful as Windows Live elements. But what separates it from the usual toolbars floating around the Internet is its GUI which is already quite advanced for a simple browser plugin – it features visual treats like flyout windows where you can view content from the MSN website without having to leave the page – and actually browse the site using that “preview” pane – and effects like flipping, sliding and rollover visuals, and fully customizable toolbar skins. The toolbar offers other functionalities as well, like mail notifications (for your Windows Live Hotmail account), news, weather, and sports, among other things.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Bing Bar can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
