ArcSoft Utility

If you are looking for ArcSoft Utility, you have come to the right place. We explain what ArcSoft Utility is and point you to the official download.

What is ArcSoft Utility?

Arcsoft Utility is a 100 KB file installed in certain Arcsoft products, whose filename is simply Utility.exe. However it doesn’t appear to do anything, and experts recommend that even though this is more or less bloatware it should be left alone on an active Arcsoft installation to prevent the application from crashing due to a missing file, which it may need. Security scans and other security products assess Utility.exe as harmless, though it has been repeatedly been asked if it was a necessary component. Arcsoft cannot be reached for comment.

Arcsoft Utility should not be confused with Arcsoft Media Management Utility, which is a suite of miscellaneous applications that augment and enhance other and core Arcsoft digital media products. This suite includes the MediaImpression (a video authoring tool), WebCam Companion (a webcam enhancement and functionality application), Magic-I Visual Effects (chat emoticons, effects, and the like), Scan and Stitch Deluxe (a desktop publishing software), Video Downloader (capture and download streaming video content from the Internet), and the RAW Thumbnail Viewer (a thumbnail viewer of your images) applications, the last of which is the only completely free application in the suite, while the rest are paid software.
