Visicom Media’s Anti-Phishing Domain Advisor is a little browser plugin that protects you from sites that are labeled phishing locations, or those which are copycats of legitimate sites that are used to scam users off their personally identifiable information (PII), such as credit card numbers and Social Security numbers. This plugin also helps you avoid sites that are known to have malicious code embedded in their pages that automatically download itself on your computer and could damage your files. The way this works is that, when installed, the Anti-Phishing Domain Advisor alerts you in real time of the site you’re going to open or visit, checking it against a master list of nefarious sites that have been compiled from users, and maintained by Panda Security, one of the leading IT security providers in the business (which has also developed the popular Panda Anti-Virus software).
Though outwardly for security purposes, it has been given a very low rating on download sites because of its penchant of installing itself without actually being downloaded, bundled with some legitimate programs. As a result when users try to download and install these programs on their computer the Anti-Phishing Domain Advisor installs as well, which is a little suspicious.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Anti-phishing Domain Advisor can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
