Ad-Aware is one of the most popular security software in the market today, boosted by its free editions in the early 2000s and continuing the tradition until today; first known as the best adware-killing security application from its inception, it has since evolved to counter all forms of threats including spyware and viruses. Developed by Lavasoft and first released in 1999, Ad-Aware is able to scan for and detect, remove, or quarantine such common computer threats like viruses, Trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits, bots, data miners, parasites, browser hijackers, tracking components and aggressive ads.
Ad-Aware uses the Avira proprietary anti-virus scanning engine, which was first incorporated into the mainstream releases since 2008. Lavasoft bundles Ad-Aware into three main editions: Free Antivirus+, Personal Security, and Pro Security, in ascending order of advanced features, although they have the same core components and capabilities such as the ability to remove the aforementioned computer and networking threats. All three also feature real-time protection capabilities, which run in the background and taking up minimal system resources; these shields automatically kick in whenever malware installs itself on your computer, or it runs a process. Ad-Aware’s installation also installs Google Chrome, although this can be disabled.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Ad-Aware Application can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
