7-Zip Portable

If you are looking for 7-Zip Portable, you have come to the right place. We explain what 7-Zip Portable is and point you to the official download.

What is 7-Zip Portable?

The 7-Zip Portable program is the non-installing version of the 7-Zip software, which is an archiving and extraction program often used on Windows systems. Like its installing sibling, 7-Zip Portable is open-source and free for anyone to use, without a need for licenses or payments.

The program is small enough to fit on handy flash drives and does all the things the regular version of 7-Zip does. It can create archives with the following extensions: 7Z, ZIP, WIM, BZIP2, XZ, TAR and GZIP. It can also extract the contents of archives with those extensions as well as the following extensions: ISO, FAT, CAB, ARJ, CHM, DEB, DMG, HFS, LZMA, LZH, MSI, MBR, NSIS, RAR, NTFS, RPM, UDF, XAR, Z, VHD, SquashFS and CramFS. It also boasts the same secure encryption capabilities when it comes to ZIP and 7Z archives. In fact, the only capability of the regular version of the program that the portable version cannot match is integration into the Windows Explorer shell, i.e. the ability to use the program to archive/extract files by right-clicking on them in Explorer and selecting the appropriate command.
