Windows Media Player Playlist

The Windows Media Player is a free application that allows users to listen to and view media data on their computers.

The WPL files that are used by the Media Player application contain playlists of songs and videos that can be played using the media application. The WPL file stores a list of references to the audio and video files, but not the actual media files themselves.

The WPL file format is only used in Windows Media Player versions 9 and later. The wpl file extension is automatically assigned to playlists that are created within the software.

Other media player applications have adapted the format and are compatible with these playlists too.
