What is an UNL file?

Files that contain the .unl file extension are most commonly associated with the MapSource map management application. This software application is used by a variety of Garmin GPS navigation devices.

The UNL files that are used by this software are backup files that contain a backup of the data that a user has saved in the application. Information contained in the UNL files may include waypoints, points of interest, recent destinations and other backup data.

The Informix software application also uses the .unl file suffix. These UNL files contain binary files that are created when a user launches the UNLOAD command within the Informix program.
