What is WinArchiver?

WinArchiver is a type of software that facilitates compression and decompression of files, as well as creation and extraction of archives. The program was developed by Power Software Ltd. to provide users with a WinZip and WinRAR archive opener, to allow the user to extract files and read them in their original format.

In addition to opening WinZip and WinRAR files, WinArchiver is also able to open 7Z archives, mountable archive .mzp, ISO image, ARJ, BZ2, BZIP2, GZIP, GZ, TAR, TAZ, TBZ and TBZ2, TGZ, TPZ, CAP, CPIO, DEB, LHA, LZH, RPM, SPLIT, SWM, WIM, Z, DAA, BIN, CUE, MDF, MDS, CDI, Nero Disc Image NRG and Apple Disc Image DMG.

On the other hand, archives for compressed files can be created in the following formats: ZIP, ISO and MZP. The software also comes with a CD/DVD burning application, which the user can utilize to make disc copies of the archives or extracted files.

The developer of the software also provides a WinArchiver Virtual Drive, which works alongside the original WinArchiver software, to enable the user to mount their archives onto a virtual drive without extracting any of the files. Users can read the files from the virtual drive.
