What is RStudio?

RStudio is an open source integrated desktop environment for R. It runs on desktop computers operating Mac, Linux, and Windows. It can also run over the web using the RStudio Server. RStudio can recover data from local disks, removable disks, heavily corrupted disks, and unbootable disks. It can also get this data from clients that are attached to a local network, as well as the internet. RStudio is a tool for large or small data recovery operations. It works with any kind of R (2.11.1 or higher), and is integrated with Git and Subversion for version control.

Its productivity tools include syntax highlighting, code completion, and smart indentation. It can execute R codes directly from the source editor. RStudio has a workspace browser and a data viewer. It also has a searchable command history. It contains a searchable plot history, zooming, and flexible image and PDF export. The user can also navigate code using typehead search.
