What is JWPce?
JWPce is a type of text editor meant for the Japanese language. It can run on Windows 95, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT, and CE platforms. This program was made for non-native Japanese language speakers who want to make Japanese-language documents. It is distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License. JWPce’s default installation has menus in English. Language packs for other types of languages can also be found.
JWPce recommends various facilities that can be useful to students who are studying Japanese. This includes a built-in Japanese dictionary (using EDICT and other dictionary files), detailed information on kanji (through KANJIDIC), and different types of kanji lookup methods. But JWPce lets their users modify the fonts that are used to show text in the different parts of the word processor. JWPce can also highlight kanji in different shades, so that users can easily find unfamiliar words in their list. JWPce runs easily on Windows CE and Pocket PC platforms which allow its users to use a PDA as a type of electronic Japanese dictionary. The version for MS Windows on standard PCs under Wine in Unix-like environments is also recommended.
