YIFY File

What are YIFY files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a YIFY file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your YIFY files.

What is a YIFY file?

A .yify file is normally a digital movie that has been downloaded from certain P2P (peer to peer) networks. The YIFI tag is just part of the video's file name, and not the actual extension of the file. These digital movies are usually stored in MKV, AVI and MP4 formats among other related digital video formats. The YIFI tag was developed by certain groups that share digital movies and videos in P2P networks. This allows the shared multimedia content of these groups to be tracked and identified by other users in the same P2P networks.Multimedia playback tools and digital video players like VLC from VideoLAN and Windows Media Player from Microsoft can normally be used to open and view digital movies that are stored in these YIFI files. Any multimedia software with playback support for the specific video file type of a YIFI file can be used to view these digital movies. Certain video development tools can also be used to open and edit the content of these YIFI files, provided that the software has support for the specific video format of the YIFI file.
