What is a SMI file?
SMI is an acronym for Synchronized Multimedia Integration. Files that contain the .smi file extension usually contain multimedia presentations that integrate streaming audio and video files with text and other images.
The SMI file format is similar to the HTML file format. Text editors are commonly used to create many of the presentations that have been created in the SMI file format.
Sometimes SMI files are saved with the .smil extension so that the files will not be confused with SMI files that are used as self-mounting compressed image files on Mac computers. These files also use the .smi file extension.
