What are PAGES files and how to open them

What is a PAGES file?

PAGES files have multiple uses, and Pages Document is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Pages Document

Files that contain the .pages file extension are files that the Apple Pages software has created. The Apple Pages software application is a word processing and page layout application that Apple developed as a part of the iWork productivity suite.

The files with the .pages file extension are based on the XML file format and can contain various word processing files, including basic text documents and multi-page brochures. The Apple Pages software includes more than 140 pre-built Apple Pages templates to assist in creating files that are saved with the .pages file extension.

How to open PAGES files

Important: Different programs may use files with the PAGES file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PAGES file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

We know that one PAGES format is Rage Megatexture. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
