What is a MRC file?

The .mrc file extension is a script file format that is primarily associated with mIRC. mIRC is a full featured Internet Relay Chat client programs for MS Windows, which can be used to communicate, share, play or work with other Internet users in the IRC network. mIRC is applicable to either multi-user group conferences or confidential one- on- one discussions.

mIRC also features a powerful scripting language that can be utilized to automate mIRC or to create applications that perform a wide range of functions such as network communications or for playing games. mIRC uses .mrc script files that are embedded in itself to serve as source codes for relay instructions and functions. Without the .mrc files, the mIRC will not work as intended.

Specifically, .mrc files contain mIRC mechanisms that specify the action the computer has to perform, like creating dialogue windows and protecting users and channels against spam and flooding.
