What is a MAILHOST file (a file with file extension MAILHOST)?
Files that contain the .mailhost file extension are most commonly associated with MSN email applications. The MAILHOST files that are used by these applications contain the user preferences for the email user's MSN e-mail server settings.
The MAILHOST file format is proprietary to Microsoft. The file is automatically installed on a user's computer when he or she installs the MSN Explorer Email application.
When the user changes his or her preferences and settings within the MSN Explorer Email software, the MAILHOST file is updated automatically. If the file is deleted, the MSN Explorer Email application will not be able to function properly.
