CXT File

What are CXT files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a CXT file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CXT files.

What is a CXT file?

A .CXT file is an Adobe Director Protected Cast file.

Files that contain the .cxt file extension are most commonly associated with the Adobe Director (previously Macromedia Director) multi-media authoring application. CXT files contain Director cast or object files that have been saved in a protected file format.

The CXT file format prevents the Director files from being edited and allows objects to be shared without the risk of being modified. When a user opens a Director file that is already open, a CXT copy is automatically created, preventing the user from making edits to the locked copy of the file. When the file is closed, the copy is automatically deleted.
